Lines and Reviews 4 | Romance: Attachments

Let it be known that Rainbow Rowell is one of my favourite writers of all time. This author just keeps on spitting awesome rom-coms, and I'm not complaining.

She has become famous for her quirky works like 'Eleanor and Park' and 'Fan Girl', but my favourite one is actually her debut novel.

Attachments came out in 2011 and it's a workplace romance set in a newsroom. The reason why I prefer it over her more famous works is because it's not considered YA (I'm just tired of YA). And it has the PUREST male lead ever. I swear, Rainbow Rowell is just so good at retaining my faith in boys, men, humanity and love, in general. She paints characters so well, not because she makes them perfectly but because she retains the human in them. And that's hard to do when you're trying to make a likeable and profitable project, and readers/consumers just want goody Perfect Prince Charming. Her writing style is commendable as well. I was never bored when I sat through this book.

So Attachments is set pre-2000s and is about this IT guy working in a newsroom. He reads the emails inside the company to assure his employers that their workers are complying with their policies. He stumbles upon the threads from a set of best friends and this becomes his daily entertainment.
